Timeless Endings Virtual Book Tour

Timeless Endings
by Alexandra Forry

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Evelyn turned toward the lights of the city. The view was breathtaking as she stood looking down on Las Vegas, lovingly wrapped in Tony’s arms. It was a moment she would keep deep in her heart, forever. “Look at this—The City of Gold!” Evelyn exclaimed as Tony kissed her forehead. “And it’s all ours, Eve!”
Thus begins a heartwarming and harrowing tale of life and forbidden love lost to one generation and found in the next. Caught between a turbulent love triangle that shook the very foundations of the Mafia’s Las Vegas Empire, and a deadly struggle for wealth and power, Mob Boss and “King of Las Vegas” Tony Torino, his mistress hustler and onetime showgirl Evelyn Rosenberg, and her husband top Chicago mobster Charlie “Gus” Rosenberg live and love in defiance of the violent and unforgiving laws of the Mafia. All that remains is Evelyn’s carefully preserved diary left by Gus to be discovered by his daughter Adriane and Tony’s son Victor as they pack up her late father’s belongings. Through the vivid and brilliant use of flashbacks, juxtaposed with current events, we witness one of the most beautiful and ill-fated love stories of the last century. As Victor, a forest ranger who fled his family’s Mob past, and Adriane, an attorney being pressured to work for the Mafia, read through the diary old hatreds and new alliances rise leaving us to wonder if history will repeat itself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Excerpt Three:

“Vic, you can’t just walk into Sonny Graziano’s office!” Al said, trying to get Victor to see reason.

“I’m going in, no matter what happens!”

“You’re not thinking right, my boy!”

“Yes I am! You can’t stop me! I've never fulfilled the vendetta for my father’s death!”

“Let’s grab a drink and talk about this some more,” Al begged him.

“Why? I finally have Adriane at last and now look at this mess… Adriane knows that Adam is our brother, and on top of everything else, Lisa is pregnant!”

“You’re teasing me?”

“Nope, I wish, but my mind is made up! My gun is loaded and I’m ready to kill.”

“Wait, you don’t have to go in there!”

“That would make me not my father’s son! Dad would do the same thing as me.”

“I beg to differ.  He would have a plan and a few cards up his sleeve.”

“Excuse me for not being my father! You have no room to talk, Uncle Al.  You ran as far as you could from this Mafia stuff.” Victor pointed out, tired of living in his father’s grand shadow.

“I would be dead now if I hadn’t run! I thought you wanted nothin’ to do with this kind of life?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello, I’m Alexandra Forry, the author of Timeless Endings, a new sub-genre in the romance novel arena. Timeless Endings is a romance set in the world of the mafia. I’m so excited to be a Guest Blogger on Book Girl Knitting.
Today, I’m going to tell you what my own thoughts on Romance, Love and Sex. I happen to be jumping on the lime here, what is the different kinds of romance that one may experience over a life time? Some say that you love once in your life time, but is it true? Maybe in the 1950’s when people married, sleep in twin bed, and stay married to death do us part. One shall will never know.
In this day and age you can have casual sex or hooking up outside the context of a romantic relationship. One wonder’s if casual sex might turn into romance? This my point I am trying to get across, different kinds of romance relationship. When most people date sex in the picture. Also I have to think about all the affair’s that happen when one is married and the sex has gone out turning it into a sexless marriage? It also might happened you have been dating someone for a while.
Look at our Social Media, sex seem to be always in our faces, TV shows, movie, music, video games, even on Facebook and such. As children we were drilled growing up that we need to wait to have sex on our wedding night or go to hell. As we grew up and enter high school we feel things towards someone, this being called “High School Sweethearts” then it come the big “Q” do I want to get marry right out of high school? What about College? What if I fell in with another man whom is my soul mate and I can’t be with him since I married my high school Sweetheart? Now people go to college and the same thing has happen all over again. I could go on and on with this subject at hand.
Another kind of romance that I want to point out is a kind of romance that sometimes doesn’t involve sex. You might think WHAT? It’s what I like to call pure romantic without sex. It’s when you love someone very much but you give up having sex with them for whatever reason. You two might talk about sex, but at the end you can’t act on it. The point that I’m trying to say that, I believe that love, romantic love can come in all types of forms, and when you least expect it. That’s the kind of a romance I enjoy writing.
Did I made you think?
I want to thank Book Girl Knitting for the big honor of having me and my book Timeless Ending on this blog today. If you have any questions or comments, I will be happy to answer.
Excerpt Three:
The birth certificate was a bust. Not only had the site kicked her out but she didn't have her mom's name, never mind her maiden name. How was she supposed to get that?
Most people would already know that.
She bet even Bill knew who his parents were. Maybe it really was time for her to contact her father... to get some answers... to stand up to him. Her hands trembled as she ran them through her hair. Her fingers slid through the short strands so fast, it caught her off guard. As a child she used to spend hours laying on her bed and playing with her hair. It had been one of the things that she could do without having to ask for permission. It had just become one of those habits that was her go to when she needed to think or to de-stress.
The little body beside her snuggled into her side and his little hand came up to tickle her under her chin. She giggled and then he pounced on her.
"Ooommph."
"Got you, Mommy."
"Help me. Help me." She poked her fingers into his sides. He exploded into laughter while he squirmed. A day of quiet had done him wonders. There was still a bit of pink to his cheeks but the tooth that had been causing him so much grief seemed to have poked through the skin and wasn't hurting as much.
They play wrestled for a good twenty minutes until they were both pooped out.
"Honey, I have an errand to run this morning. So we'll go to the zoo this afternoon. Okay?"
"Zoo, Mommy, zoo."
"Yeah, sweety. Soon."
After she put him in Kim's care, she got ready to go meet the woman, who'd responded she'd be willing to meet. The reality of what she was hoping would happen made her hands shake so bad that she could barely do up the buttons on her blouse. Once dressed, she opened her sock drawer and pulled out the sheet of paper she was sure would lead her to some answers. Could the police have gotten any fingerprints off of it? Had she made a big mistake by not going to them?
Interview with Maggie Thom
1. Plotter or pantster?
I do both. I usually find that for me a story starts with a scene. So then I play with it as to where it would happen in the story, why, who are the key characters, etc. I do a bit of plotting and outlining at least the basics for the story but when I get writing I find that often the characters and the story will take on a life of their own. I tend to just let it flow. Sometimes I'll then go back and see if I like where the story has gone and sometimes I'll just keep writing. For sure when I have the first draft done, that's where I go back through and really ensure the plot makes sense, it is enticing, it follows a logical pattern, that all the clues and hints are there throughout and that everything is tied up by the end. Once I'm even at the point that I think I'm at my final draft, I'll go through again and review the plot and all the elements just to ensure it's grabbing, has several twists and turns but not too many. I'm always looking to make sure there is a good balance. Then I send to my beta readers to get their feedback as to what works and what doesn't for them.
2. What books have influenced your writing style?
Two authors that have very much influenced my writing style are Robert Ludlum and Sandra Brown. Robert Ludlum writes or I should say wrote incredible espionage stories. He was one of the first that showed me how to weave a misleading story and how to introduce a number of characters that would lead the reader astray. Sandra Brown writes the type of genre that I like to write - suspense, thriller with some romance. She also is very good at writing a suspense that keeps you glued to the book until you're finished reading it. I learned a lot from both of them and include elements - the twists, the misleading, the types of characters, the tieing it all up by the end - that I learned from both, in my writing.
3. Classics or something else?
There are some classics that I have really enjoyed but I also love genre books - suspense/thrillers, fantasy, women's fiction, etc.
4. Favorite ice cream flavor?
Butter Pecan, although I have to say there are so many kinds out there I'm not sure I've made my way through them all. J
5. Favorite type of character to write about?
I love writing about strong, independent women who believe they have to do everything themselves but also have to learn to trust others and to be able to ask for help.
6. Tell us one thing about you that no one knows.
Well I really don't have any secrets like I tell in my books. J Hmmm, what does no one know about me?
I'm a country girl at heart, I love living in the country, I love wandering around out in nature. If I had to choose between city and country I'd always choose country. J
7. Name three things on your desk right now.
A frog statue (it makes me smile), an angel (it gives me hope) and a wolf (I love their majestic beauty). Interesting combination, isn't it?
8. What is next on your writing timetable?
I am actually writing two novels right now - Deadly Ties and Split Seconds.
Deadly Ties - Kyara needs to discover the truth, did her grandmother falsely spend 20 years in prison for murdering Kyara's grandfather or was she framed? How was it tied to the recent attack on her mom?
Split Seconds - Twins sisters meet for the first time as adults and soon discover that someone has gone to great lengths to keep them apart.
Shadows of Damascus Virtual Book Tour
Shadows of Damascus
by Lilas Taha
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Bullet wounds, torture and oppression aren’t the only things that keep a man—or a woman—from being whole.

Debt. Honor. Pain. Solitude. These are things wounded war veteran Adam Wegener knows all about. Love—now, that he is not good at. Not when love equals a closed fist, burns, and suicide attempts. But Adam is one who keeps his word. He owes the man who saved his life in Iraq. And he doesn’t question the measure of the debt, even when it is in the form of an emotionally distant, beautiful woman.

Yasmeen agreed to become the wife of an American veteran so she could flee persecution in war-torn Syria. She counted on being in the United States for a short stay until she could return home. There was one thing she did not count on: wanting more.

Is it too late for Adam and Yasmeen?

Shadows of Damascus to be released by Soul Mate Publishing mid January, 2014.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt Four:
Hot cup of coffee in one hand, phone receiver cradled on shoulder, Adam dialed the phone number at eight thirty the following morning. A decent time. A woman’s soft voice greeted him.
“Good morning, ma’am. I’d like to talk to Mr. Pemssy?” He barely contained his excitement.
“Sorry?”
“My name is Adam Wegener,” he enunciated his words. “I want to speak to Mr. O. R. Pemssy.”
“Wrong number.”
Click.
“Damn it.” His excitement disintegrated like a popped balloon. He went back to the kitchen table and re-worked the letters again, only to end up with the same number. Frustrated, he crumbled the papers and threw them across the kitchen floor. To hell with this, he’d wasted enough time on this shit. If Fadi wanted something from him, he damned well better call him.
Hungry and angry, he stabbed a slice of toast and smeared it with peanut butter. Tension building in the muscles of his arms, he wanted to throw or break something. Instead, he swallowed the sandwich and went outside to work. Climbing astride his rusty old tractor, he cranked the motor.
Rising heat squeezed sweat from his body like a sponge with no regard to his fragile mental state. His mind crunched numbers without end while he worked. Thoughts of the cool fridge full of icy drinks beckoned him for an early lunch. He abandoned his tractor in the middle of the field, and headed home, discarding his wet shirt on the way. He walked around the kitchen, stomping papers. It felt good and satisfying. As satisfying as the icy Coke he gulped down. Needing to put things in order, he collected the discarded papers. When he reached to crush the envelope, his eyes landed on the Turkish stamp. A surge of excitement gripped his stomach. One more thing he needed to try.
Logging onto his laptop, he searched Turkey’s city codes for area code 216. Istanbul on the Asian side. He searched for the country code, then the time difference. Eight hours ahead put it close to nine p.m. in Istanbul.
He dialed the sequence of international code numbers and held his breath while the same ringing tone played with his nerves.
“’Allo?” A man’s voice greeted.
“May I speak to Mr. Pemssy?”
“Yust a minute.” The man spoke with an unmistakable heavy accent.
Adam dropped in a chair and closed his eyes in anticipation.
“I see you got my letter,” a deep voice said.
“You’re the one who sent it? Who am I speaking to?” Eyes wide open now. Could it be Fadi? Damn it, he couldn’t remember his voice.
“You know who I am. I can’t use my real name. How is zat hib of yours? Giving you trouble?”
Fadi. Same annoying accent. “What the hell is going on?” He grit his teeth and tried to ignore the mispronunciations. “Couldn’t you have given me your phone number in the letter, or called me directly?”
“I didn’t know if you still lived at that address, and I didn’t want my number to fall in the wrong hands. You’re not listed. I knew you liked to count things. That was the best I could come up with.”
“I too tried to find you many times. What can I do for you, man? What do you need?” Was there a better way to say he hadn’t forgotten Fadi?
“I need a favor. But I can’t explain over the phone. Get on a plane and come here as soon as possible.”
“You want me to fly to Turkey? You serious?”
“You promised to help if I needed anything, and I do. Desperately.”
Adam coughed to steal a moment. What the hell? Fly over there? Could he even afford it? He’d like to help the guy, but this was insane.
“Can’t just drop everything and leave. I’ll do my best to help you from here if you tell me what you need. Nothing illegal, you should know this upfront.”
“I can’t tell you, and I can’t stay on the line for too long. A life is at stake. Are you in or out?”
Adam was torn. Torn and ashamed to admit he looked for a way out of the promise he’d given years earlier. “Your life?”
Fadi remained silent for a few seconds.
He heard an agonized exhale.
“You’re my only hope.”
Notes from Nadir Virtual Book Tour
Notes from Nadir
by Lisa Maliga
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

A Los Angeles-based writer returns to her Midwestern home due to financial difficulties. Moving back in with Mom, she lands a job at an online auction site. From encountering wacky characters to dealing with unsympathetic relatives, to her mother's health issues, the narrator struggles with being in Nadir--the place and the state of mind.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt Three:
From Chapter 47 – Manic Monday
Right before lunch, one of the Packers came over and announced: "Bakery donuts downstairs in the warehouse … main door!"
On a Monday? Rita smiled and turned to me, "That's great! They sometimes donate donuts from the bakery down the street. It's really a great place…" she got up and was heading for the stairs a lot faster than I'd seen her move since I began working there.
I followed her; I could walk faster than she could, as I didn't wear a size 18. I knew her size because she saw a pair of large black pants on my cart and said they'd fit her and placed a bid on them. She didn't win them as some other fatso from Nebraska did.
Near the main door I saw a big flimsy pink cardboard box on top of a dilapidated table. It was surrounded by red shirted employees.
Most of the warehouse employees didn't wear gloves. They spent the day handling pee-stained rugs and bedding, cast off toys and games, old electronics, mildewed books, filthy furniture with chewed up legs and torn upholstery; all manner of junk. And they were pawing through the donut selection. Not a napkin or paper towel in sight. But that didn't stop Rita or any of the other workers. A toothless worker wearing a faded, almost pink shirt decorated with holes, licked his fingers. Free food, free dessert, and free germs!
Ruby Heart Virtual Book Tour
Ruby Heart
by Cristelle Comby
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

When elderly client Doris Hargrave informs private investigator Alexandra Neve that her beloved antique ruby heart necklace has gone missing for the second time in a period of over sixty years, Alexandra knows this is no ordinary jewellery theft. The ruby heart is a family
heirloom and the only thing that connects an ailing Mrs Hargrave to her parents, who were murdered during the Holocaust.

To solve the case, Alexandra and her business partner, blind history professor Ashford Egan, must sift through obscure Holocaust documents to find out the truth. It’s that way that they learn of a secret World War II-era love affair which could hold the key to all the answers they are looking for. Meanwhile, Egan is under immense pressure from the university to quit his private investigating business, and Alexandra is afraid that a man she trusts will leave her. Again.

When Alexandra begins to receive anonymous threats and her flat is vandalised, this all becomes personal. Knowing that there is someone out there to hurt her, Alexandra vows to find that elusive ruby heart if it’s the last thing she ever does.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt Three:
I close the lipstick, drop it in the door pocket, then look back at the rear-view mirror and check my blond wig one last time. ‘I wouldn’t want to be doing all this for nothing.’
Egan ignores my comment and asks, ‘What’s your plan?’
‘Well, Mrs Hayder said her husband has a type when it comes to women—’ I tug at the wig a little ‘—I’m doing my best to fit the description.’
‘Which is?’ he asks, and I don’t need to look at him to know he’s smiling.
‘Tall, blonde, sexy and exotic.’
‘Exotic?’ he asks.
I frown at my own reflexion. ‘I hope Italian will be exotic enough for him. I’m not sure I’m able to use any other accent convincingly.’
‘I’m looking forward to that part,’ Egan chuckles, tapping the little earpiece he’s wearing. ‘And you’re really certain he’ll want to have a drink with you?’
‘In this dress?’ I ask. ‘I assure you he most definitely will. I’m going to go all Monica Belluci on him — he won’t know what’s hit him.’
‘Monica Who?’ he asks.
‘She’s a well-known actress. She’s all curves and very popular with the male population… some of the females too.’
Egan chuckles as I open the door and step out.
‘Just don’t miss your cue,’ I say, closing the door behind me.
I walk the length of the car and cross the street. There’s a bar on the other side, snuggled in-between two large office buildings.
I wobble on my heels and have to force myself to take slow measured steps. Porca vacca, it’s easier to walk in a straight line after hitting your head against a wall, than when wearing ten-inch heels — trust me, I’ve tried it.
Brendon moved to the window and stared out. “I don’t think you realized how bad things became for me when Nan died. I’d lost the only person who cared for me. I had no one left. The million dollars I lost on a roulette wheel wasn’t done just to get rid of the cook. I did it to get your attention. While you didn’t give a shit about me, you’ve always loved money. And it worked. You finally noticed me.”
“And sent you away,” Gar said with remorse.
“Yeah.” Brendon turned and gave him a faint smile. “Not exactly the response I’d hoped for, but it turned out all right. I met Senna and since then life keeps getting easier with each day. Now I find I even like you most of the time.”
“Well, the feeling is mutual. You’re still eccentric, but you’ve a good heart and good intent, and I’m proud you’re my brother.”
Suddenly the door opened and Senna walked in looking at both men with concern. “Are you two having a fight?”
“Not at all.” Brendon smiled. “In fact, Gar told me he’s proud I’m his brother.”
Senna’s eyes filled with appreciation as she grinned at Gar.
Her smile almost broke Gar’s heart. God help him, but Brendon had nailed the truth. He did love Senna, and more than anything, he wanted her to be his wife.
